History of Car: The Development of Automobiles from a Long Time to Now

History of Car - Cars have become part of modern human life. The existence of the car is very helpful human mobility while doing daily activities.

Especially now, the model and type of car has been very diverse. Starting from the family wagon or now better known as sports utility vehicle (SUV), up to class luxury sedan that gives more comfort.

The machines offered were already very diverse. Like the 1,000-1,500cc class for urban cars. Or a car over 2,000 cc engine that is widely used by cars with four wheel drive.

But this time we will not discuss the existing car variants today. Next time we will explore the history of the car. What is the process and development of the car from the 19th century to enter this second millennium? Let's see.

PRE 1880s

Long before anyone else thought of something that could take them elsewhere younger, Leonardo da Vinci had already drafted the "car" in 1478. This concept had not been machine-driven and was still sketched on paper.

Hundreds of years later, a motor vehicle began to be made man. Using this steam engine was used to help the movement of French military needs in the 1870s in bringing war equipment.

This steam engine is assisted by three drive wheels. Its speed at that time is believed to be the same as human speed when walking.

Decade 1880

The discovery of a diesel engine in 1882 became an important chapter in the history of the car. Precisely in January 1882, when a diesel engine began to be introduced and then widely used by the public.

When it was first made, this diesel engine emerged as a milestone for being able to make the engine more efficient in fuel use. Diesel engines continue to be developed and still remain used as one of the car engines.

After that then came the vehicle with a gasoline engine. Using three wheels as a propulsion, the vehicle was invented by German engineer Karl Benz in 1885.

Not to be outdone, in the United States Henry Ford had built his first car in 1886. This is the forerunner of the cars in the modern era.

1900 Decade

At the beginning of the 20th century these simple cars that have been created begin to experience evolution. When first introduced, the car was not yet using a round stir as we know it today.

Prior to 1900, the car's steering wheel was half-circular. Some even use a kind of stick to move the front wheel to the right and to the left. After 1900, round stir began to wear and indeed more ease the movement of the car.

The speed of the car had started to grow taller. Can reach 15-20 km / hour. It's faster than the speed of people walking about 6 km / h. That's why the state government of Alabama, United States, limits the maximum speed of the car when it is only 12 km / hour.

In this era Ford began introducing a phenomenal Model T. Thanks to the help of the engine, the process of making this car shot from 7.5 units / hour to 146 units / hour.

In 1913 was born the first hybrid engine in the world. Ferdinand Porsche is a hybrid engine that is named Lohne-Porsche Mixte Hybrid. Porsche's age at finding the machine is only 18 years old.

1920 Decade

In this decade, cars have started to become a part of human life. It has even become an industry that continues to grow with the emergence of new car-related inventions.

In the United States even many emerging industries that create cars ranging from small to large scale. However, it seems that only those with large capital survive.

Of the approximately 253 industrial vehicles in 1908, the number became 44 only in 1929. Of that amount, 80 percent of the market is controlled by Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler.

In this decade, began to be introduced car radio. So that car owners no longer feel lonely when driving alone.

1940 Decade

In the mid-20th century, the world was in the midst of war. Automotive industry was affected. They are so focused on creating vehicles that can be useful on the battlefield.

One of the most important discoveries of the decade is a four wheel drive vehicle. This vehicle is very fitting used for battlefields that have uneven ground conditions.

These military vehicles have a fairly high speed though they have to explore the contoured areas up and down. Currently, people know him as Jeep.

1950 Decade

After the world war was over, automotive manufacturers could again develop the technology they had at the time. Appeared machine with injection technology in January 1951.

The first car to use this injection machine is Gutbrod Superior and Goliath GP 700 E sports coupe. Both cars are officially marketed to the public and received quite positive response.

Early 1956, new technology was re-invented. This time a catalytic converter prototype was started. This is the impact of people's current anxiety about the amount of carbon dioxide that continues to increase as the number of vehicles increasing.

However, the technology of Eugene Houdry's work at that time was still limited to trials and applied to gasoline engines. But, the idea is arguably far ahead of the technology that developed at the time.

1960 Decade

The history of the car entered a more advanced era. Cars are increasingly popularizing the design with a more compact and functional.

This is not separated from the influence of the presence of VW Beetle who have unusual design and ordained as people's cars. VW Beetle became the inspiration of the emergence of the series Corolla, Civic, and Focus which is the pioneer cars with a more simple design and not large.

Since then, car manufacturers have begun to race to create more simple vehicles.

1970 Decade

Side of passenger safety in vehicles began to be introduced in this decade. Starting with the advent of airbag technology in 1974. Coupled with seat belts that can help passengers avoid severe injuries during an accident.

This is not separated from the speed of a car that continues to grow taller. The machines used have a greater capacity that impacts with higher maximum speed.

Proven in 1970, a special-engined vehicle capable of racing up to 1000 km / hour. The vehicle, named "Blue Flame" was ordained as the fastest vehicle on earth when tested in the Salt Creek of Bonneville, Utah, United States.

Decade of 1980 and 1990

After the United States had dominated the world of automotive decades, starting in 1980, came a heavy competitor. The war-torn Japan has begun to rise again.

Japanese brands such as Honda and Toyota have even been able to penetrate the United States market. Japanese manufacturers offer different vehicles from Uncle Sam's country products, thus attracting the public there.

Developed technology was able to compete with the cars produced by the United States and Europe. Like when Toyota for the first time introduced a phenomenal Toyota Prius in 1997.

Toyota Prius became the first hybrid car in the world. This car became the inspiration of future tech cars that were produced decades later.

Decade 2000

The history of cars continues to grow positively in the second millennium. A number of new technologies are emerging. Everything aims to create a more efficient and environmentally friendly vehicle.

The desire to create eco-friendly vehicles is seen when Peugeot is able to make governments and automotive manufacturers in Europe start using filters in car engines. The use of this filter eventually became imperative for all European production cars for the health of its users.

Honda did not want to lose. In 2007 the Japanese manufacturer started producing hydrogen-fueled cars that are environmentally friendly. Honda production car is named FCX Clarity.

Future

The fuel-efficient and environment-friendly engines are the focus of every automotive manufacturer in the world. Although still limited to a prototype scale, manufacturers show their seriousness about the impact of increasing CO2 on earth.

As VW raised when introducing their fuel-efficient prototype in March 2013. At that time, VW showed their artificial cars that can travel a distance of 100 km with just 1 liter of gasoline alone.

In the world of Formula 1 racing also began to introduce vehicles using battery power. FIA as the world's auto racing authority has started to hold this electric car racing event in 2014. The plan, in 2018 will start to be held a formula car race with a powered machine listri.

The most advanced technology today is developed by Tesla. This manufacturer creates an autonomous car like an airplane in autopilot mode. Although many received criticism, but public interest in this autonomous car was quite large.

That's the history of the car for more than a century. It all started from a small discovery that continues to be developed until finally created a car that can be useful for human life.

Ascertained will continue to emerge the latest technology and findings in this automotive world. Everything aims to make human life easier and of course without forgetting the environment that remains clean and healthy.
